Elizabeth Smith, LICSW

Hi, I’m Elizabeth- owner of Green Thread Therapy. I am a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, and a clinical social worker. Like you, I wear many hats in life and often find myself questioning how in the world I’ll manage to juggle them all. That is when I turn to my village. None of us thrive in isolation, and I see therapy as part of building that supportive network.

My hope is to become part of your village so I can help you feel more connected to your true self by healing the root and not just the surface.

I live in Vermont on the NH border with my husband, my daughter, our cat, and our rescue dog. I love to run, read, snuggle on the couch with my family, and I’ve never been known to turn down a good nap (it’s self care, right!?).

How can Elizabeth help?

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience in supporting individuals through complex emotional challenges. Specializing in grief and interpersonal relationships, I help clients explore and understand the deeper emotional and relational patterns that influence their lives.

Occasionally we find ourselves managing relationships with loved ones, colleagues, or others who may be unwilling or unable to seek therapy themselves. I understand that sometimes the challenge is not just about your own personal growth, but how to cope with and respond to others who may not be engaged in the therapeutic process.

I work with individuals experiencing loss, transitions, and relationship difficulties, guiding them toward healing and greater self-awareness. I focus on unraveling the unconscious factors that may be impacting emotional well-being, helping clients to process grief, build healthier relationships, and develop coping strategies for life's challenges.

I aim to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can explore their emotions, gain insight into their behaviors, and work toward achieving emotional growth and fulfillment.

As a therapist and someone who has personally experienced the profound heartbreak of losing a child, I offer a unique perspective and a deeply empathetic space for those navigating this unimaginable grief. I understand the complexities of this journey—the raw pain, the shifting relationships, the struggle to find meaning, and the challenge of learning to live again while carrying the memory of your child.

My approach combines my personal experience with professional expertise to support you in honoring your loss, processing your emotions, and finding your way forward at your own pace. This isn’t about ‘moving on’ but about integrating your loss into your life in a way that allows for healing, connection, and hope.

Before transitioning into private practice I worked as a pediatric oncology social worker in a hospital setting. This experience gave me the profound honor of supporting families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. I bring this depth of understanding to my work, offering compassionate support to those navigating grief, trauma, and life-altering circumstances.
